Now that you’ve learned a little about who we are at Resurrection Lutheran Church, let me share with you a little about me.
I entered the ministry as a ‘second career.’ My first career was that of a wife and mother, along with various jobs at different times to help with family finances. Those years were happy and fulfilling, though I always knew that there was something more for me to do, something waiting for my attention! I was always looking for what God was calling me to do next, and in July 2003, I discerned God's call to ordained ministry.
I am the third of three daughters. My father was a Baptist minister and my mother is ordained as a minister as well. I was introduced to the Lutheran tradition through my husband, John. I was immediately drawn to the message of God’s grace that is central to Lutheran theology. We raised both of our children in the Lutheran church. Our son, John Coleman, lives in the Atlanta area. Our daughter, Claudia, delighted our lives for eighteen beautiful years and now lives with the saints in heaven.
After three years of intense study at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC, and an internship at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City, GA, I begin a new phase of following God’s call, as the pastor of Resurrection Lutheran Church here in Ooltewah.
We are a growing congregation with a passion for God’s mission of drawing all people into reconciliation with God. We bask in the presence of Christ our Savior at his table as we receive his grace. Each Sunday we celebrate that grace in worship and Holy Communion. Come join us!
